The Sister Mary Frances Warde Award is the highest award conferred each year to the graduate who transferred to—or had a gap in attendance while at—Mount Mercy and best exemplifies our university mission in how they reflect, engage, serve, and live a purposeful life during their time here. The award is named for Sister Mary Frances Warde, who founded the Sisters of Mercy in America in 1843.
Madison was a standout performer on the Mount Mercy women’s basketball team, but her collegiate excellence goes beyond the court. She was captain of the team for two years and scored more than 1,000 career points, earning Heart of America Conference Player of the Week honors three times. During her career, she was named all-Heart of America Athletic Conference First-team and Second-team.
In addition, Madison is a member of the Council of Student Athletes. She was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete as well as a Heart of America Scholar-Athlete, making the Dean’s List every semester she was at Mount Mercy. She worked in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) as a math tutor and peer-academic coach, while also volunteering her time working with young aspiring athletes.
An athletics’ staff member said, "No matter what, Madison always has the biggest smile on her face and she is just the nicest person!"
